What you should know about Wall Safes

When you’re considering how you’re going to install your wall safe you need to think of some of the following factors: What size safe will you be installing? What are the dimensions of the wall? How heavy is the wall safe going to be? Will you install the safe yourself or get it done by a professional?

Once your wall safe has been properly installed you then need to think about how it is you’ll be covering up the safe. Do you have a painting, poster bookshelf or mirror to hide your safe. If you’re wanting frequent access to your safe then a removable painting is probably the best choice. However if you want added concealment and won’t be accessing your safe very often then it’s a good idea to place a bookshelf in front of the safe instead.

For security purposes it’s a good idea to have a procedure or routine before you ever access your wall safe. Making sure no one is around so they don’t know what’s inside or manage to have a peak at your combination code is a good idea. Also placing a timer on the safe so that it can be opened at only certain periods of the day will create added security for when you’re away at the weekend or on holiday. If you’re working in a large organization then it’s very important that only your most trusted employees know of the safes combination code. A high percentage of security breaks occur with the help of insider knowledge. Keep the number of people who know the safe combination down to an absolute minimum and make sure the one’s who do know it aren’t big talkers.

If you’re going to be storing your jewels, documents, cash or any small items then a wall safe is the ideal size. However if you’re for much bigger items you might want to consider a larger type of safe such as a free standing safe.

If you're going to install a wall safe then the best place I can recommend is My Security Safes which provides a great selection of wall safes and other security products.
